Barbara Crooker on “How I Wrote It” – I was teaching a workshop at a summer conference and had cleaned out my spice cupboard, passing around different scents to inhale as a prompt. I caught a whiff of cinnamon, and was off. . . .

Barbara Crooker is a poetry editor for Italian Americana, and author of nine full-length books of poetry; Some Glad Morning (Pitt Poetry Series) is her newest.  Her awards include the WB Yeats Society of New York Award, the Thomas Merton Poetry of the Sacred Award, three Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Creative Writing Fellowships. Her work appears in a variety of anthologies, including Common Wealth: Contemporary Poets on Pennsylvania, and The Bedford Introduction to Literature.
